By using BudgetWise ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Service Description

BudgetWise is a budgeting and financial tracking application. It allows you to track expenses, set savings goals, connect bank accounts, and manage personal, business, or family budgets. The App is provided "as is" for informational purposes and is not a substitute for professional financial advice.

2. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account
One person may maintain multiple account modes (Personal, Business, Family) under a single login

3. Free & Pro Plans

The Free plan provides core budgeting features at no cost
The Pro plan unlocks premium features including bank sync, business/family modes, and advanced reports
Pro subscriptions are billed monthly (R79/month) or yearly (R659/year)
A free 1-month trial may be offered with no credit card required
Prices may change with 30 days notice to existing subscribers

4. Payments & Billing

All payments are processed securely by Stripe
Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date
You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings
Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis within 14 days of purchase
We do not store your credit card details — Stripe handles all payment data

5. Bank Connections

Bank account linking is provided through third-party services (Plaid, Salt Edge)
We never store your bank login credentials
Bank data is used solely to display your transactions and balances within the App
You can disconnect your bank account at any time
We are not responsible for the accuracy or timeliness of data provided by your bank

6. Your Data

You retain ownership of all data you enter into BudgetWise
You can delete all your data at any time using the "Delete All My Data" button in account settings
We handle your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the App for any illegal purpose
Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
Reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute the App's code
Use automated bots or scrapers on the App
Submit false or misleading information

8. Disclaimer

BudgetWise is a budgeting tool, not a financial advisor. We do not provide investment, tax, or legal advice. The AI insights and advice features are for informational purposes only. Always consult a qualified financial professional for important financial decisions.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BudgetWise and its developer shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. This includes but is not limited to financial losses, data loss, or service interruptions.

10. Service Availability

We aim to keep BudgetWise available 24/7 but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance, updates, or modifications at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of planned downtime.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account at any time. Upon termination, your data will be permanently deleted.

12. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of South Africa.
